Taylor-Wharton Donates Liquid
nitrogen Refrigerators to
New
York Blood Bank and American Red Cross
Camp Hill, PA – Harsco
Corporation’s industrial gas division, Taylor-Wharton announced
today that they are donating 11 K-Series liquid nitrogen
refrigerators to the American Red Cross and the New York Blood
Bank. This significant donation will be used to store blood and
plasma in New York and various key repositories around the United
States.
These refrigerators were offered to
help alleviate some of the pressure put on these organizations by
the horrific events of September 11, 2001 as well as any future
requirements resulting from a prolonged military engagement.
According to Hoyt Fitzsimmons,
Taylor-Wharton’s Vice President and General Manager -
Cryogenics, "These two organizations have put forth a
tremendous effort to meet all of the needs resulting from these
horrible attacks. We as a company are honored to be able to aid
them and our country."
The New York Blood Bank will be
using their six units in New York City to store the large amounts
of blood and plasma that has been and continues to be donated by
their fellow New Yorkers and from citizens across the country. The
American Red Cross will be utilizing their refrigerators in key
repositories across the U.S. as they prepare for any additional
large-scale blood requirements.
The refrigerators are currently
being outfitted for their respective duties before being shipped
to Tech-Air, a Taylor-Wharton equipment distributor located in
metropolitan New York and Connecticut. Tech-Air has agreed to
finish the outfitting process and supply the liquid nitrogen that
will be used in the refrigerators.
