Taylor-Wharton Announces
Safety Precautions
For
biological refrigerators, dewars and freezers
Harsco Corporation’s industrial
gas division, Taylor-Wharton has announced that effective
immediately, virtually all of their biological refrigerators,
dewars and freezers will come equipped with devices for locking
and securing their contents.
Most of the aluminum dewars and
shippers such as the XT, HC, CX and LS-Series
will come equipped with an eye-hole outlet for use with a
combination or pad-lock, while the larger stainless steel K-Series
refrigerators include a lock and key mechanism. Additionally,
refrigerators equipped with the Kryos Controller restrict
access to certain key features such as power and the menu system.
According to John Wimberley,
Taylor-Wharton’s Product Manager – Portable Cryogenics,
"These features are designed to offer added protection to
user’s biological samples. He added, "With the recent
concerns of national security, we are taking all precautions to
offer our customers the safest and most secure product possible
for their biological samples."
In addition to these safety
features, Taylor-Wharton has offered to work with any user that
has specialized needs or security requirements.
